About Me.
Keola Jones (she/her), born in Richmond, VA is a movement artist, choreographer and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her BFA in Dance and Choreography with honors at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022, where she was awarded Outstanding Performer, Emerging Leader and Virginia Commonwealth University’s African American Studies’ Black History in the Making Award.
During her undergraduate studies, Jones worked with many artists including MK Abadoo, Sinclair Emoghene, Trebien Pollard, Scott Putman, Dr. E. Gaynell Sherrod and Eric Rivera. Along with residency artists Christopher K. Morgan & Artists and Urban Bush Women. She had the amazing opportunity to work with the Dance Union and was also an inaugural fellow with The ReadProject NYC under the direction of Johnnie Cruise Mercer.
Jones formerly worked at The College of William & Mary as an adjunct professor of dance and is a recurring guest artist of the Leah Glenn Dance Theatre based in Williamsburg, VA. She is currently a company member with Urban Bush Women, based in Brooklyn, NY and facilitator with UBW's community outreach program BOLD (Builders, Organizers, & Leaders through Dance).
